Mariola Stripe Fabric

Meet Our Freshest Fabric, Mariola Stripe

We couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to our brand new fabric, Mariola Stripe! This one has been in the making for some time. Our Style Director, Julie Smith has been on the hunt for the perfect stripe, never quite finding that elusive ideal. So, she’s taken matters into her own hands, bringing you a gorgeous upholstery option that’s sure to make any Arlo shape sing. This stunner of a stripe falls into our Natural & Sustainable category, making it an excellent choice from more than just a style perspective. Read on to get the full lowdown from Julie, herself…

Can you share a bit of background on how Mariola Stripe came to be?

I developed the stipe with a mill that we often work with, who are particularly good at being enthusiastic about new ideas and how they can produce them. I've been trying to find a good stripe suitable for upholstery for some time, never quite being happy with existing options. So, the mill developed this one for us and it’s absolutely perfect! It strikes just the right amount of boldness on a lovely, slightly open weave cotton base cloth.

How would you describe its texture?

The base is a gorgeous cotton cloth, with all the softness you’d expect from this timeless natural material. The weave itself is left a little open for a tactile, laid-back feel. I think it works wonderfully to temper the crisp look of the stripes.

Which colourway is your personal favourite?

I’ve got a soft spot for the green, but the charcoal is quite cool, too and it’s got a really timeless look. It’s getting lots of love in our stores. We keep running out of samples, actually! I’ll definitely be expanding the range of colours, with hopes of adding terracotta and chocolate brown soon.
