A fabulous fabric is the cherry on top of a great design! That’s why we stock hundreds of options, from wallet-friendly House fabrics to lavish designer styles. We keep up-to-date books from numerous fine fabric houses in our showrooms, giving you the freedom to go off-piste with something extra special. We’re also happy to accommodate Customer’s Own Selections! We’ll do our utmost to arrange upholstery in the textile of your choice at the best price available. Simply bring in a sample swatch or let us know the details and we’ll get going on the rest!

There are a few points to consider when it comes to COS fabrics. Here are the key requirements…

  • The fabric must meet a minimum of 20,000 on the Martindale rub test for general use, and 30,000 for commercial use.
  • Fabric composed of over 75% natural fibres must be interlined or treated for fire retardancy.
  • Fabric composed of under 75% natural fibres must be back-coated for fire retardancy.
  • Directional fabrics such as velvets or striped fabrics will be upholstered as regular with the pile/grain top-to-bottom. There may be a need for a seam in the centre.
  • Non-directional fabrics can be upholstered in a regular way (sometimes referred to as propertop) or railroad.
  • Pattern-matching is not possible in all cases.
