Table Top: Hollie Moreland, Creative Director, David Hunt Lighting
Hollie Moreland is the Creative Director at David Hunt Lighting, one of the UK’s longest surviving lighting manufacturers – their hero products include the iconic Antler range (designed by Hollie), and every single fixture and fitting is handmade and hand-painted at their workshop in the Cotswolds. This is a beautiful brand with craftsmanship at its heart. Hollie takes us through the items on her coffee table that she needs throughout her working day.
Winsor and Newton Watercolour Set
“I have painted with Watercolours since I was a child, I find it very calming and love mixing the colours to get unique hues. Outside of lighting design I enjoy painting landscapes and in particular coastal views. This set is very handy to travel with.”
Fabric samples and Pantone reference books
“Colour is an integral aspect of what we do, so my reference and swatch books are invaluable to me.”
Vintage observer Books
“I collect Vintage observer books, as they are small enough to fit in my handbag, and they cover so many topics. One of my favourites is the Astronomy book, which has all the famous constellations in and is just fascinating. My favourite new design at David Hunt Lighting is called Cosmos, and the idea was inspired when I started reading this book.”
“I keep my paintbrushes in a Gluggle fish jug; it was a gift from a very talented artist friend, and it often reminds me of her.”
“I have a passion for pottery – especially vintage pieces, I find the details of the patterns and the colourways so inspiring. My favourite pattern is Spode’s ‘Blue Italian’.”
I would be lost without my Smythson diary; I have to write everything down! I find a diary so much easier to manage than on my phone or laptop. It is the starting point of my day, Everything I do has to go through my diary.
Apple MacBook Pro
Another necessity is my laptop, it contains all my work, so it is very helpful when I am travelling and sourcing pieces.
And of course there is always an open David Hunt catalogue.
