Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, the family has filled the house and there are decorations in every corner. However certain things about the holidays can be a little stressful, but fear not, we’ve come up with our top 5 easy tips for a stress free Christmas.
1. Plan Ahead
It’s not just one day you prepare for, you’re preparing for a whole month of parties, shopping and eating, so it makes sense to plan ahead as much as possible. Make a list of all the things you need to get done before the big day. Getting the presents and food sorted should be top of the list, then you’ll have a think about whether or not you need to give your decorations a refresh.
One of our top Christmas tips is to make room in the freezer and stock up on as much of the food essentials as possible, that way you can avoid the last minute rush to the supermarket on Christmas Eve, and this goes for the drinks too.
2. Make your Holiday Entertaining Master Plan
When planning Christmas parties, preparation is key to making sure that you can relax and enjoy the evening without having to worry about the little things. Music is the centre of any celebration, it sets the tone and atmosphere. Make sure you have your playlist good to go with songs that everyone will love.
The table décor is another incredibly important component of any party. Lay it out in the morning, to save any rushing before everyone arrives. Dot some candles down the table to create some atmosphere.
3. Budgeting and Secret Santa
There’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than to start your Christmas shopping. Our Christmas tip is to make yourself a list of all the gifts you want to get everyone, that way you can spend less time in the shops and more time sipping mulled wine. Give yourself one budget for everyone, that way you won’t have to worry about over spending.
If you have a big family, Secret Santa is a fantastic idea, set a budget, pick a name out of the hat and you’re good to go.
4. Online Shopping
What’s better than getting all the Christmas shopping down without leaving the comfort of your sofa? Online shopping is everyone's best friend at this time of the year, you can get it all done whilst sitting on your sofa with a cup of tea in hand and have everything delivered directly to you. Most online stores have special discounts or free delivery around this time of the year, so you could even save yourself some pennies.
5. Christmas Décor
We couldn’t talk about Christmas and not mention the décor. This is of course individual to everyone and every home, however our top tip for a stress free Christmas would be to keep everything simple. Don’t overdo it on the decorations this year, keep things minimal and the process will be easier and leave you with more time to snuggle up on the sofa and watch those Christmas movie classics!
