Table Top: Flat 15

Since winning the Amara blog awards last year, Flat 15 has become one of our favourite lifestyle blogs and an absolutely must for interior inspiration. It’s clear to see where Gabby’s wonderfully unique style derives from and we’re thrilled that she has shared her table top style with us this week. Gabby’s retro glass coffee table is a real treasure chest of literary treats, with art and design books from Helmut Newton and Andy Warhol taking pride of place amongst fresh flowers and all important cups of tea!

My coffee table is one of my favourite spots in my home. I found the table itself at a vintage shop a few years ago and instantly fell in love with its 70's design of lucite and brass details. I use it as a place to store my favourite books and decorative objects which are mostly all related to art and design. The fact that the coffee table has two levels was also a plus, as I wanted to stack as many books as possible on it.

In the lucite tray in the centre of my coffee table I always (try to) have fresh flowers. I can't resist the pop of natural colour and right now I am adding lots of bright Spring florals. I also love to burn candles in the evening, so there's always a candle or two sitting in the tray as well. At the moment I have one that I bought from the shop at Hotel Costes in Paris (their product range have my very favourite scents) along with some matches I have collected from my travels.

In my living room all of my seating faces the coffee table, so on a normal day you can usually find tea cups and lots of fashion and design magazines on it. My background is in art and so many of the books on my table are about contemporary art and artists. I just picked up this Andy Warhol, "Polaroids" book and love the pop of pink on the cover. My Helmut Newton book is one of my classics.

Overall, I like to keep my coffee table as a practical piece in my home that works as a composition of visual inspiration for me to enjoy on a daily basis.
