Sofa Moments: World Gin Day 2017


Jump for juniper – Saturday 10th June is World Gin Day, giving us even more reason to sip, enjoy and experiment with everybody’s favourite botanical beverage! For cocktail inspiration, we’ve teamed up with The Lakes Distillery who have sent us three refreshing recipes that put this delectable tipple in the spotlight. The Lakes Distillery is based along the River Derwent and produces The Lakes Gin from juniper that is naturally sourced from the fells in the Lake District as well as local botanicals such as bilberry, heather and meadowsweet, giving this artisan gin notes of floral and citrus, with a sweet taste.

World Gin Day 2017 - Lakes Distillery


White Sangria

Combine the following ingredients in a pitcher:
125ml The Lakes Gin
750ml Prosecco
65ml orange liqueur
Stir in 250ml soda water
Add raspberries, peach and kiwi slices. Garnish with mint and serve with ice.

Grapefruit and Thyme Smash

Combine the following ingredients:
50ml The Lakes Vodka
75ml grapefruit juice
25ml lemon juice and 50ml sugar syrup
Cover and shake. Garnish with two springs of thyme. Serve in jam jar glasses or tumbler.

Lavender Collins

Combine the following ingredients:
50ml The Lakes Gin
25ml lemon juice and 15ml lavender sugar
Pour into a jam jar glass or tumbler with ice. Top up with soda water. Garnish with a sprig of lavender
