This sofa will understand how firm you like your pillows and will correct your posture to prevent you from injury.

Windows will be made of adjustable smart glass
Windows will be made of smart glass and users will be able to adjust the tint and transparency using a remote control.

Windows will be automated to close when you leave the house and have detectors that trigger an alarm if an intruder attempts to break the glass.

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) will become commonplace with VR artwork, floor to ceiling wall displays, immersive experience furniture and AI assistants all coming into the home.

In just 10 years time, your wallpaper will become super smart, and will act as a projector for you to watch a movie or read a book.

Mirrors that are your own personal stylist
Connected mirrors will become your personal stylist by 2040. As you step in front of them they'll tell you what items of clothing will go with the current outfit you have on.

Duvets of the future will be connected to monitors that track our body temperature, triggering them to heat up or cool down to achieve the ideal body temperature. They will also know when we get into them and will provide us with the optimal comfort and temperature.

Maximising natural light
New paints and materials will use reflection to increase the intensity of the natural light in a room and create colour from white natural light. This will reduce the need for artificial light, allowing us to cut down energy use and increase our exposure to natural light.
