Lazy Sunday: What's new on Netflix in June

Did you get overexcited for the weekend; overindulge a little? Never fear, Sundays were made for sofa surfing and we’ve rounded up the best of all things new to Netflix in June. So just sit back, relax and press play…

Couple Watching Netflix

The funny one – Grace & Frankie
Grace and Frankie’s lives are turned upside down when their husbands announce they’re leaving them… for each other. Packed full of Hollywood veterans such as Jane Fonda and Martin Sheen, this Netflix-only series is a sharp, life-affirming comedy that celebrates the joys and challenges of relationships and ageing.

The sci-fi one – Web Junkie
Exploring China’s internet additional rehabilitation centres, this documentary film gives a rare insight into the impact that a web gaming obsessed generation has not only on their close relatives, but wider society. Offering a sensitive perspective, Web Junkie is one to get those cogs ticking.

The action-packed (Zombie-filled) one – World War Z
Missed Brad Pitt’s directorial debut in cinemas? (Don’t worry, so did we). But if you’re in the mood for something big, brash and apocalyptic then look no further. This delivers all that and plenty of zombies to boot, in this fast paced action-thriller.

The dramatic one – Adore
Originally shown at the Sundance Film Festival, Adore, the first English-language film from French director Anne Fontaine, follows the parallel love affairs of best friends and their sons. Perhaps not overly realistic in its portrayal, Adore still makes for an interesting allegory.

The one we’ve all been waiting for! – Orange Is The New Black
If you haven’t seen OINTB you must’ve been hiding under a rock as it’s one of the most talked about shows of the year. Charting the journey of all-American Piper in Litchfield Women’s prison, this is a comedy with rounded characters and storyline that’ll leave you eagerly awaiting each and every episode.
