Lazy Days: The Ultimate Sleepover Guide

It’s the first week back to school, so whether you have grown-up friends staying, the kids are enjoying a final sleepover of the summer, or they’re planning one for all their new friends now they’re back to school, here’s our guide to the ultimate sleepover (for all you big kids too).

Bertie sofa bed

Sofa beds are the best way to accommodate any staying guests; they’re far more comfortable in comparison to a deflating blow-up mattress on the floor or asking your guests to sleep on a standard sofa. Our sofa beds come in a range of sizes and styles, so you’re bound to find one from our range that’s perfect for you.

It’s only right that with the launch of our newest, most versatile sofa bed range to date, Bertie, that we share with you the Arlo & Jacob guide to the ultimate sleepover.

First things first, grab your blankets, throws, and pillows and build yourself a fort or a tent over the sofa bed, for resting sleepy heads, or for snuggling under while watching a film. Use clothes pegs to attach lightweight sheets to neighbouring furniture to create a canopy. Any sofa with removable cushions, like Bertie, will make it easy to build a comfortable fort with the little ones.

So that you feel like you’re camping under a starry sky, we think these star projection lamps are amazing.

Alternatively, use these ceramic star-shaped fairy lights to add a magical, warm glow (plus they’re not too bright for when eyelids start to get heavy). A sleepover necessity is a flashlight for telling scary stories, or for double checking for monsters under the bed.

“Midnight feasts” are a staple at any self-respecting sleepover, and you can’t beat milk and cookies before bedtime. However, have you considered some of these alternatives; a popcorn bar is excellent for when you’re evening activity involves watching a film, while fruit skewers (with added marshmallows) is a great idea for a healthier snack. We also think strawberries and chocolate brownies would definitely go down well with the kids.

Last but not least, how about creating a make-shift hot chocolate bar. Use a slow cooker to make your hot chocolate, then have the option to add cream, sugar, cinnamon, marshmallows, and sprinkles. Plus, make it fit for adults with the possibility of alcoholic beverages like brandy or Baileys.

If our Bertie is too large for your room, or if you’re after a space-saving, sleepover option, then look no further than Betsey. A first for Arlo & Jacob is our beautifully designed, bed-in-a-box called Betsey. The perfect companion to a child’s sleepover, Betsey’s mattress is also comfortable enough for when one of the grandparents comes to stay. Compact in size but expertly designed, the lid of the box becomes the headboard when the bed is pulled out. Betsey can be upholstered in any fabric of your choosing making it both a functional and versatile piece.
