Green is a perpetually captivating colour.
It has a grounding quality which sets a soothing tone, thanks to its roots in nature. Depending on the shade, it can inject a hint of energy or act as a characterful yet muted base for other hues to play off of. Green has been a foundational colour from the beginning of Arlo, tying into our House palette of earthy tones, curated to combine. Now, we’re looking at it through fresh eyes as it emerges as a key colour trend for the year. Join us in exploring how you can apply it to your interior with panache…
Starting with the sofa can help to get you going on the right foot when it comes to a colour palette. Once you’ve settled on the shape, size, and format, it’s only upholstery! We’ve got hundreds of House and designer options to choose from, conveniently winnowed down to style edits which jibe well together. We do, however, have a few favourites to note if you’re open to direction. Mariola Stripe is an Arlo exclusive, coming in a beautiful Pesto green. The slightly muted stripes of colour are interspersed with flecks of ivory, which instill a soft, laid-back look. Our Scandi Linen is another House fabric which works wonderfully if you’re in the market for a solid tone across a classic material. We particularly love the Sencha and Cypress Green colourways.
If you’re looking to go a bit bolder with your upholstery, velvet can be a real winner. We find our Truro option in Olive brings a gorgeous sense of gravitas to the Hartfield design, for example. Our House Weave is another richly textured fabric with a dynamic surface of mixed hues. Go for the Pistachio colourway to bring a spectrum of greens to your sitting area, as we’ve done with our Sephy chair. If it’s pattern you’re after, be sure to check out Rapture & Wright’s Albaicin fabric in Bronze Green. There’s a depth to the colour and an energy to this meandering, cactus-style pattern. We couldn’t love it more!
Now, for setting the scene! Painting your walls can really change the mood of a space, bringing the interior design scheme together in harmony. If you’re looking for inspiration, we’d suggest Little Green for a range of earthy yet energetic tones. We’re big fans of their Tracery II, a soft, muted green which comes off as something of a neutral. Their Sage Green is a classic choice, with a bit more liveliness to it, stopping shy of overpowering the eye. For a rich, all-enveloping wall colour, Ambleside is a great choice. It’s got a bit of teal to it, which is fabulous in smaller spaces like a dressing room, for example.

Once you’ve got the bones of your space colour-coded, it’s onto introducing a few pops of intrigue. We tend to appreciate some variety in terms of material and texture. An easy way to achieve that is bringing in small but mighty accent pieces like our wooden Button stool in the Olive colourway. We’re also big on throw cushions, which we make on a bespoke basis, with the option of piping for extra pizzazz.
