An Interview with the Founder
At Arlo & Jacob we know what it’s like to put your faith in a dream. When it comes to building up a small company that’s close to the heart, it can be equal parts daunting and exhilarating. It’s been a real pleasure supporting up-and-coming loungewear brand, IT’S 9PM as they bring all their beautiful ideas to life in their London pop-up. We had the joy of designing a lounge for the space, creating stylish vignettes which offer moments of respite amidst the thrill of shopping. Naturally, we wanted to connect with IT’S 9PM founder, Amy Pass to find out more about her path to starting the brand and how the Arlo-designed lounge is sitting with her!
Can you tell us about your background and what inspired you to start IT’S 9PM?
My background is as a copywriter and brand consultant. I have spent the past 10 years working across some incredible fashion brands, learning everything I could about building a brand before venturing out to start building my own dream. I have wanted to create a loungewear brand for years. There’s something about comfortable stylish clothing that I just love. It just works with minimal effort and removes the pressure relating to women’s ever-changing bodies. I love that loungewear is so connected to lifestyle and the home, and with IT’S 9PM it just felt like the possibilities would be endless.
Where does the inspiration for your prints come from?
Each collection has a different source of inspiration, but our AW24 collection is inspired by 70s pop culture, with influences from David Bowie and YSL runway archives. Our hand-painted stripes, midnight paisleys, and signature leopard are designed to inject your everyday dressing with a dose of dopamine, and a nod to decades gone by.
What’s your favourite design in the collection?
I love everything in the collection, but for everyday wear it’s got to be the leopard print Frenchie, and for party season the midnight paisley smoking suit.
Can you give us a sense of what you have going on at your King’s Road pop-up?
At our King’s Road pop-up store we are showcasing our AW24 collection to press, buyers, and most importantly, our lovely customers. It’s a place people can come to relax, unwind, and try on loungewear from what feels like the comfort of your own home. It’s such a lovely atmosphere and we are just loving getting to know our customers on a more personal level.
It’s been a pleasure helping to design the IT’S 9PM Lounge on the King’s Road! What’s your favourite piece of Arlo furniture on display?
We have absolutely loved it too! It’s been the dream partnership so thank you for supporting our small brand. People have loved sitting on your gorgeous sofas while waiting for their other halves to try outfits on in the changing rooms! We have had nonstop compliments on the comfort of your Agatha sofa. For me my favourite combination is the Sephy sofa with the striped Qube stool. I think it’s an unexpected combination and it just feels really fresh and quite Malibu beach house. It’s gorgeous in front of our rattan fitting room and it all just ties together perfectly!
We’d highly recommend dropping in to explore IT’S 9PM’s collection live and in-person! You can catch the pop-up at 68-70 King’s Road from the 29th of August to the 28th of September. And be sure to give yourself a bit of R&R along the way, taking a load off on our sumptuous seats!
