Home Décor Ideas: How to Style a Sofa Bed

Our sofas are working overtime! We’re adapting our fan-favourites into beautifully streamlined sofa beds to take you from afternoon lounging to sweet dreams with total ease. These aren’t your typical creaky cots; they’re plush and supportive beds which offer a proper night’s sleep to drop-in guests. In fact, they’re so cosy you might just be tempted to stage a living room sleepover of your own!

In preparation for the big reveal of our new sofa beds, we’ve rounded up a few tips on how to style them. Read on for inspiration!

Rich Tones & Tactile Touches

Going for deep, warm upholstery helps to set a cosy tone, laying the groundwork for a good night’s sleep. Our Cotton Velvet in the Burnt Umber colourway has got a rich tone to it, plus a hint of glow for that added element of luxury. Contrasting this tactile textile with matt black accessories and wooden elements imparts a contemporary, smart feel. Be sure to layer up plenty of throws and scatter cushions to make the space even more inviting. A Berber style, natural rug will finish off the space, creating a bedroom-like area - whether it’s in your living room or home office - that will be comfortable for your guests to relax in. A stylish coffee table book that will give your guests something to nod off to is always a great idea, too!

Crisp & Light

Create a calming scene with a classic light linen that will instantly spread a sense of calm through your space. Linen is a timeless fabric that never goes out of style, and keeping to a simple neutral will ensure you can spice up the space with accessories down the line, should you wish. In the first instance, we’d recommend committing to the monochrome look! Dress your sofa bed in Cream coloured Linen Blend and keep any throw cushions the same. Alternatively, you can opt for textured neutral fabrics on your throw pillows like Basket Weave in Sandstone to add a hint of intrigue. When it comes to blankets, smooth and soft is the name of the game. Invest in a timeless cashmere throw to create a top-notch guest experience that’s sure to earn you five stars.

Immersively Patterned

Going for big, bold patterns creates a glorious dreamscape for guests to snooze off in. If you’re the type that likes to stride confidently into interior design, showing off your personality in spades, this is the style for you! Go big with a designer fabric like Linwood’s Bibi in the Ginger Biscuit colourway to really up the ante. The warm tones set a soothing atmosphere, with pops of creamy white to keep the look from overpowering the eye. You can dress it up with a throw blanket in the deeper, orange tone to add drama, or calm the scheme down by matching it to the warm white. As for throw cushions, you can take the same approach - or turn up the temperature by mixing and matching patterns! Check out our offering of bespoke scatter cushions to bring your vision to life.
