Home Décor Ideas: Our Favourite Floral fabrics in honour of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show
In honour of the Chelsea Flower Show this week, we’ve chosen some of our favourite floral fabrics that are all perfect for a spring/summer interior refresh. Florals don’t have to mean fussy, and they are ideal for making a statement, and with the multitude of designs on offer, there’s something for everyone’s taste, ranging from contemporary to classic styles. For a more modern look, choose larger prints, and for a more traditional take, consider a smaller print repetition.
Our sumptuously soft, full-feather Poirot sofa, part of our House & Garden Collection, is pictured here in the bold Leilani floral print by Australian designer, Anna Spiro Textiles. This is a modern floral fabric thanks to its irregular shapes and random pattern, along with the oversized flower blooms.
A design classic, chintz has often fallen out of favour with many interior designers for being gaudy and tasteless. However, chintz is a traditional fabric design that stands the test of time, and we think it’s been unfairly judged. Chintz is simply the name given to a pattern cloth, usually cotton, that can have a shiny surface. Our ‘Chintz’ fabric is a gorgeous botanical array of green hues, adorning a lovely lightweight cotton fabric. Upholstered on our Poirot chair, chintz looks vibrant and lively, and makes a real statement, especially against this petrol blue backdrop.
Fabric designers Parker and Jules have a vast array of floral fabrics in their canon. We particularly like this Folk Floral Poppy print in a pink, which comes in oatmeal linen, cotton velvet and heavy linen. The Folk Trend is still highly popular and we can imagine this fabric transforming one of our chairs into a statement piece. Our Aragon would suit perfectly thanks to its dramatic fixed high back, which will show off this print perfectly.
We all dream of holidays in the sun surrounded by beautiful landscapes, so why not bring a little tropical fever to your home? The Copacabana print from Sanderson is described as ‘a striking design with a tropical pattern of fruit and flowers printed on cotton panama with a graphic stencilled style. Available in four vibrant colourways.’ There are plenty of bold hues in this fabric to pick to compliment your interior theme.
