Get the Look: Tequila Sunrise Summer Colours
Spark a riot of tropical colours and clashing prints for a re-energised interior this summer. Keep this new optimism grounded with a navy blue sofa and take your home on vacation.
Story by Catherine Caines
Summer is the perfect time to refresh your space with joyous shades and prints. For those wanting to re-energise their home, why not dive in the deep end with zesty yellow, sunset orange and sea blue.
According to the interiors team at Trend Bible, "luminous colours grant a fantastical escape from the constraints of real-life as householders explore dream-states as a channel for creativity." The boldness of colour has multiple benefits, including as a much-reported mood booster. However, there is also a cultural acceleration around playfulness and creativity, and it's happening within our homes first, rather than through street fashion or runway shows.
In response, a flourish of bold colours, unusual accessories and a retro twist are all in the mix for our latest Get the Look.
"The need for optimism and joyfulness sees householders experimenting with joyful design," says Trend Bible in its report on trends 2022. "Customers wholeheartedly embrace the escapism offered by the strange, surreal and otherworldly."
“Colour is the key to introducing more optimism in your home, and in turn, this impacts your mood and energy," says Elise Fitzsimons about the warm cocktail palette of summer colours.
Colours to explore this summer and beyond include bright hot pinks, creamy yellows and uplifting blues. We anchored vibrant colours with our Clara sofa in navy velvet for our Get the Look and then mixed it with fun elements like our Tommy footstool.
Also on the rise is characterful chairs that add instant personality to a room, such as our Vesper featured above. "Creativity is the key, and this summer," shares Elise Fitzsimons, Product Development Manager from Arlo & Jacob. "You can be more playful with smaller pieces like a chair; it's a bit of brightness in the corner of the room."
Joyful shapes and summer colours are the antitheses of sharp lines and minimalism. Characterful and warm, it reflects a home rich in history and storytelling.
