We're Arlo & Jacob.
We design, hand make, and carefully deliver sofas that are more than just part of the furniture.
They're sofas for life.
We’re a family brand who consider ourselves champions of family life.
We’re named after our founder’s two children, Arlo and Jacob; two energetic little boys who love to build forts from their home sofa. It’s thanks to their imagination of turning their sofa into a playground that we decided to create sofas that were built to last a lifetime of jumping, playing, napping, and snuggling.
We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, which is why our furniture does too.
All our furniture is designed in-house by our talented product team – and occasionally in partnership with renowned designers and interior professionals.
We offer a variety of styles, designs, shapes and sizes to accommodate everyone’s taste. Whether you’re a traditionalist at heart, prefer something more modern, or some Scandinavian simplicity – we have designs for everyone at Arlo & Jacob. Whether you live alone, with a partner, children, grandparents or your pets, there’s a sofa size for every sized family. What’s more, all our frames come with a lifetime guarantee, so your sofa will be there to keep your family comfortable now and in the future.
Our upholstery room is alive with activity and the tip-tapping of sewing machine feet. One of the many skills of our talented sewing team is called ‘pattern-matching’. The sign of a truly good-quality sofa is when the pattern of the fabric, be it stripes or florals, perfectly matches along the seams and all joins, including the arms and back of the sofa. What’s more, we also undertake full upholstery, which means that all our cushions are fully upholstered on both sides and the base of the sofa. Many other brands use cheaper lining material on the underside of cushions to save on cost but deliver an inferior piece of furniture.
We still use the traditional method to ‘glue, screw and dowel’ our frames, as opposed to simple staples that some other furniture makers use. As well as being locally made, we are environmentally conscious: all the beech and birch hardwood in our frames is ethically sourced to help preserve the environment. The steel that makes our coiled springs comes from across the road, and our springs are made by hand at our factory, giving all our sofas their comfortable bounce. Attention to detail is paramount and every task is undertaken by skilled experts, on a one-person, one-job basis. It’s this combination of craftsmanship and quality materials that result in timeless pieces of furniture that will last you a lifetime.
