Interior Trends: Top lighting picks from Decorex 2017

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Decorex International, the show devoted to the best in interior decoration. The show is brimming with stylish lamps and lighting, handcrafted and bespoke furniture pieces, and reams of fine fabrics and rolls of the most decadent wallpapers you could ever envisage. We had a ball visiting the show, and seeing all the emerging interior trends for the upcoming seasons. In this blog, we shed some light on our top lamp picks from the show.

The LINEA luxury leather table lamp from Villaverde

LINEA leather table lamps

These moveable leather LINEA table lamps from Villaverde are both playful and elegant. The bright colours are grown-up, and the design is smart and sophisticated. The functional lamps come in a range of colours and, because you can angle the stem, they would make the perfect reading light either next to a bed or on a living room side table.

Crocheted lighting designs by Naomi Paul

Hanging crochet pendant lights

These crocheted hanging pendants by London design studio Naomi Paul combine natural materials with beautiful coloured fabrics for a unique and subtle design. The pieces radiate a warm ambience and draw your eye to the attention to detail and craftsmanship. A particular favourite was this orange CAVE conical pendant hanging against this trendy midnight blue wall.

Percy pendant light in clear glass by Pooky

At Pooky, we loved the upturned, glass dome pendants hanging in their brightly coloured alcoves. The transparent glass lends itself to these stylish and quirky, exposed filament bulbs, with the design being a happy mix of contemporary and traditional style.

Flexus lamp series by Baroncelli

Flexus hanging ball lights

The Flexus series (vol. II) by Baroncelli features spherical, astro-inspired orbs. The designs evolved from multiple Saturn like rings to a simple single loop encompassing the glowing globe shade. We love the Polaris pendant, which you can hang individually or as a cluster at different heights, and the Vega table lamp, which would be perfectly suited as a focal point on a living room side table or in a study.

Pink Flamingo Lampstand by House of Hackney (with additional lamp shade)

We couldn’t help but fall in love with this perfectly pink, Flamingo lamp with seventies-inspired fringe shade from House of Hackney. It’s quirky and just a little bit over-the-top, so it’ll certainly make a dramatic impact in any room.

The Signature collection from Heathfield & Co

The simple suspended ball lights from Heathfield & Co are so dainty and pretty that they reminded us of jewellery, which is apt since the signature collection is based on iconic pearls featured throughout fashion, beauty and cinematography. These gorgeous lights would look stunning adorning a dressing table or in any boudoir style bedroom. They’re elegant and classy but still manage to make a dramatic impact on the space. One of our favourites is the Audrey hanging pendant shown here.

The Colt collection by Bert Frank

mid-century lamps

Described as a mid-century, modern take on urban glamour, the chic and sophisticated Colt collection of lamps and wall lights from Bert Frank will have you thinking you’ve stepped into a five-star hotel from the set of Mad Men. The British brand has already won themselves an Elle Decoration Design Award, so we are expecting to see great things on the horizon.
