Most associate their second year with the toddler era of the gruesome-twosomes – but not us. We’ve come a long way since Arlo & Jacob was first launched, and it’s been a wonderful two years full of exciting new product ranges, fantastic collaborations and events with our extended family: you. Here we look back at some of the milestones that marked Arlo & Jacob’s first two years.
Collaboration with Nottingham Trent University and Victoria Knew
We at Arlo & Jacob believe very strongly in the old adage: ‘from tiny acorns grown mighty oaks’ – after all, our furniture has been designed to be loved by family members of all ages. That’s why for our first birthday we decided to team up with Nottingham Trent University to provide one of their students with a two-week placement with the A&J design and production team. The finished product was our Emilia chair upholstered in Textile Designer Victoria Knew’s graphic print, Echo Velvet.
Upholstery Live Event
We’re so proud of the quality of Arlo & Jacob products that we wanted to show you how much time and effort goes into making one of our pieces. We got you involved in a live upholstery event with A&J Research and Development Executive Mark, who upholstered a Grantley armchair from start to finish. He answered all of your probing questions – it was inspiring to have such an inquisitive group of A&J enthusiasts come to join us for the day.
Living Etc. House Tours
Living Etc. is one of our favourite homewares magazines - you’ll often find one of the team with their nose buried deep within the latest issue. So we were thrilled when they invited us to collaborate on their House Tours initiative in 2015. We sponsored the North London houses section of the tour, which featured a variety of properties, from serene modernist apartments through to contemporary takes on traditional interiors.
So many of the new pieces we’ve released over the last two years have become instant icons – all thanks to you. You’ve fallen in love with the sleek, masculine lines of Dixon, the plump, squashiness of the Hartfield Snuggler and the modern-traditional blend of the Cartwright. We’ve got plenty of exciting new launches in the pipeline – perhaps you’ll find your own personal Arlo & Jacob icon in 2017?
